A friend was asking me today - her youngest is 3, the other little girl 5.

She wants them to begin riding lessons in Bradford.

I am sure children must now be 5 before riding schools will accept them (for insurance purposes?)

Also - any reccomendations for a good riding school in or near Bradford?

It depends on the riding schools, but most require children to be 4 or over before they can have lessons.

Sorry, I can't help with the Bradford school search, I'm the other side of the pennines :).

I'm pretty sure it's 4 for most places for insurance, however there are a few places that will let younger children go on short hacks etc if parents are ok about insurance. Hope they find somewhere!

Where I ride, their's the age limit of 3. However, I personally wouldn't reccomend it until their four / five. As a lot of children that come, are far too young, to pay attention/ understand. :)

We have special under 5's lessons at our riding school but we're a bit too far from Bradford! They are pitched at the younger age group and play games on the ponies using soft toys. The kids and parents love it! I think children have to be at least two and be able to wear a hat.
