Minimum Height?

Sorry for this, but, what would you say the minumum height of pony is acceptable for a 5'1" person?
Weight will not be an issue.I am currently having a disagreement with my partner.

12.2 easily. I'm around the same height and ride 11hh- 17.2hh

well this might not help but I am 5 ft 9 and ride a slight 14.3and a half trotter X
the smallest I would go is a wide 13 hh

I'm 5ft 6" and ride a 14.1. Smallest I've gone comfortably is 13.2 british riding pony. I have short legs though, and not terribly heavy at 8st and a half.

I'm 5'10" and used to regularly ride a 13.2hh, so I would say around 11hh would be a reasonable minimum maybe?

I'm 5'8" and used to ride my daughters little childhood pony who is 12.2hh. I've backed loads and loads of small ponies for others over the years, the littlest one was 10.2hh (not ideal as I have very long legs, but oh well).

im 5'7 and when i was a skinny 18 year old, i rode a 12.2 and had the best time i didnt look daft either...!

so easyily 12.2 +

I'm 5'2" so only an inch taller! I have a 13hh pony and occasionally I ride a friends 12.2!

Of course it can depend on how chunky the pony is too!

I'm 5'7" and rode a 13.3 pony for many years - weight becomes an important factor if you are tall and ride a pony. At the time I weighed around 7½ stone

I am 7 1/2 stone. Partner says it is a matter of balance with pony height, it is how he was taught many moons ago.

You are both right. You can ride tiny ponies as long as not too heavy, its great fun but it does affect your balance a bit if things go wrong . Depends what you wish to achieve.

I'm 5ft5 and when fully tacked up my weight was 11st .I rode my 13.2hh pony over the Golden Horse Shoe (100 miles)

Nothing more than a quit, safe, slow hack. Getting to long in the tooth for much else these days
