Found out whats wrong with my old dog. She has had more xrays and a scan today and she has dilated cardiomopothy, heart disease.
Bum!
Vet has said she can have loads of diff drugs to help her but none to cure as incurable.
Shes a 12 1/2 yr old Doberman x German shepherd. By all accounts its really common with Doby's.
Last yr we lost out 10 yr old GSD to cancer and now this, bum again!
As its quite far gone as far as symtoms go I don't think she has long...judging by what i've read so far.
Anyone else had this happen??

Enjoy the time you have left, she is a good age given the X, and as u suggest this is common is dobes, I used to board one with the same condition, he was on a cocktail of drugs, he did stabalise nicely on them, and the day he died, he literally went before he hit the floor, and was healthy up till then.
I hope her time left sees her comfortable, enjoy her.

Our 15year old cross breed was been diagnosed wth heart failure in feb or march. He's on 2 types of medication, vetmedin and frusecide. He used to cough alot and had fainted in few times. Since the medication he has been quite stable. We don't walk him anymore but he's happy pottering around the house and garden. He's interested in everything and still likes barking at the door. We just take each day as it comes and keep an eye on the quality of his life. He does wee alot more and he gets uncomfortable when its hot so we have to keep him when hot. He's got very hungry and greedy but not sure whether thats related or if he's going senile.

Oh, that's horrible news. :(

I feel for you, as we recently lost Tugg, OH's Border Terrier, to heart and lung problems. As the others have said, enjoy the time you have left together, and don't hesitate to come and ask for hugs if you feel the need. We are always here for you.

Some (((((hugs))))) anyway.......
