Why on earth do people try to pass off loan horses to totally unsuitable homes. I can see why with horses for sale, but loaning, come on.
My friend has been out of horses for many years. She got back into it riding our little cob (23) and bombproof if her rider is not nervous. She decided to buy one and took a lovely boy on loan with a view to buy. Unfortunately he is not suitable and has caused two trips to A&E. She has finally agreed with me and arranged to send him back. I have thought this is the right thing since the first accident but she does love him already.
I have suggested looking for a loan, probably an oldie, as I keep reading that people cant find good homes for these horses. She has agreed with me and we are looking around.
In the meantime she is being offered all sorts of totally unsuitable horses eg TB ex racehorses etc. She would be back in A&E in no time.
Just dont see the point in people doing this or what they hope to gain by it. Yes it would be a lovely home and the horse would be spoilt rotten but for how long???????
