Any one got one? Can you give an opinion about comfort and how safe they feel?

I have the Charles Owen skull. I switched from Champion ventair and find it more comfortable. I find it feels like a normal hat, the only thing I'm not a fan of is that the liners velcro onto the MIPS shell and with sweat, the velcro stickers have shifted so I have to keep fixing them.

I have one, there were 2 main ones on the market, the cheaper one felt cheaply made. I pushed the extra £ and got the more expensive one and it is comfortable. Feels well made too.

One was Charles Owen, the other Champion. Can't remember which one was the cheaper one that didn't feel well made (like not finished properly). I *think* it was the Champion one that I ended up with, it had a nicer feel.

Nearly all mountain bike helmets are MIPS now.
Mine feels very secure and comfortable. It has a dial at the back for a really secure cradle fit.
I love it compared to my old one without MIPS.

It's probably a Bell off road bike hat I will buy first, to replace my current ones.

I had a Charles Owen one and bought it when they first came out. Love the concept but felt it was let down by poor quality - like the previous poster the liner would shift and I had to ask CO for advice-they sent me some more sticky dots whixh wasn’t ideal as basically the whole shell had shifted and I couldn’t get it back in place. I’ve gone back to a hat with conventional technology for now but will look to replace it with a different / improved MIPS model assuming an improved version is brought out.

The CO does look somewhat unfinished, but when it's on it feels fine.

I have the back on track Lynx one, I really like how it fits. It's comfy, and always feels secure on my head, plus it's very adjustable. Also seems to be keeping my head a bit cooler now its summer here.

Mine is in my car but think it is the Champion. I had a CO HSI or HS1 whichever it is before and then tried both the CO and champion on and the Champion one fitted better. Had it a while now and comfortable.

My problem with MIPS hats is that I cannot find one that fits. I have not ventured outside of the Equestrian brands though.

I tried the EQ3 and Lynx, the former was too round and shallow, the latter also a bit shallow and just rocked side to side too much, so possibly still too round even though it is supposed to be more oval.

CO gave me an ungodly headache in both sizes (tried to size up to alleviate the issue). The Tipperary and One K also don't fit. So here I am still with my Uvex.

Not sure to do with the EQ3 as it has been sitting on a shelf for 3 years, throw it away I guess?

Idk, my head looks normal and proportionate but is apparently insanely oval, tall, and just big. Many of these helmets aren't deep enough. EQ3 made me look like a mushroom.

The technology is great, if you find one that fits, I wouldn't go for anything else. I am still on the hunt.

I got a Back on Track MIPS helmet which is a very good fit. It is slightly more oval than round in shape so doesn't put the pressure on over my forehead which used to give me a headache at times. It is also quite light.
The other plus is you can take the liners out and wash them. I did also buy a winter liner which covers the ears and keeps all the cold, wet, windy weather from blowing in to my ears.Back on Track EQ3.jpgEQ3 Hjälmfoder.jpg

Hi Everyone!!!!

@IrishMilo is correct. Not only am I a huge proponent of MIPS helmets, I have started a Facebook group page where you can come and have your questions answered about MIPS helmets. We have reps from all but 1 brand of the MIPS helmet manufacturers. And we have recently just had a very big success in that Uvex came to us to announce that they had produced a MIPS helmet for the USA market and they even let us giveaway 2 of their new helmets.

www.facebook.com/groups/MipsHelmets is the link.

For those who don't recall, (I know I wish I didn't) I had a humdinger of an accident at a show in September 2019. A loose horse jumped out of the arena and landed on me. What saved me was that I was wearing my MIPS equipped helmet. I spent one night in the hospital and had a small concussion, but the helmet, while not even buckled, had absorbed enough of the impact that it prevented me from having a TBI. And moreover my time with the occupational therapy folks was amazingly short given the severity of the impact/description of the accident. THAT talk from my neurologists was very impactful for me. Turns out they have been hoping for the days when the equestrian helmets would also get the MIPS system. They've already seen a very big reduction in TBI's in people who bike, ski, snowboard, do motor sports, rock climbing and construction. Now that the helmets with MIPS are available the doctors are encouraging everyone to get one and more so to the folks who have had a concussion already.

I don't want to ramble here, but I am so thankful to everyone who has already joined the group. We have (sadly) already saved some lives with some bad falls while wearing a MIPS helmet, and thankfully the folks are really coming out of these falls much better than in non Mips helmets.

I want to leave you with 2 great videos that the MIPS folks produced that explain the technology VERY well.

If you have questions or prefer to email I can be reached at emily.daignault@gmail.com

Many thanks and happy holidays!!!

These were really interesting to watch, thank you for sharing. I am planning to get a new hat soon and hope to find one with MIPS which fits nicely. Seems there are a few options which is great :)

ETA - In general I think it's a great idea to raise awareness of closed head injuries/TBI.

I should share this link:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/MIPSHelmets/permalink/1016310795444787/

This is a gallery of ALL the different MIPS models approved for use in the USA.

Abroad you lucky folks have a TON more appearance options available.

Back on Track helmets there have SOOOOO many more options with the EU certification versus the ASTM American certification.

Here's the options for the helmets there:

I even got myself a Euro Lynx in blue to use at certain shows.
