Just wondered if anyone had used one, do they really work to settle your horse if it gets a bit stressed when travelling? How big should it be and would you put it on the side of the trailer that they go in or on the other side so that they are 'tricked' into thinking that there's a horse in the other stall (not sure he'd fall for this!!)
Any experiences (good or bad) please before I go and chuck another £20-30 down the swanny!!

I'm curious to hear responses to this too as I was thinking of posting the same thing. Daisy has a tendency to attack the horse in the next stable if she doesn't like it so I'm not sure if it would help calm her or if she'd go at it

My mare has one, but on a lorry so is fix to the luton in front of her it's 2'x2'. She and other who have travelled alone in my lorry have all been better and not called when on their own. My mare also has one in her stable.

I got one for my big TB, he used to kick s**t out of the trailer and buck whilst travelling. But he was not stressed, just being a tit! The mirror has worked wonders, he still jumps about a bit if he needs a wee, but a definite 100% improvement!
I have fixed my across the top (opposite the opening top door) so if the door is open when we are parked he can still see out, but has the company of his very handsome friend!!

LOL!!
So is that more in front of him, so he's looking at himself in it then? Rather than alongside him so he thinks its another horse?
Funnily enough, my horse used to be terible for kicking our old trailer which had no partition and was quite long, but now I've got a new one which I'm using the partition in he stands stock still and doesn't move his feet at all. Have left him in for 5-10 mins on his own and he's just stood, I wonder if its cos he can't get his leg up to give it a good boot! But I can tell he's stressed cos his heads going, he won't take any carrots off me and he sometimes shakes, so thought a mirror might settle him a bit better... looks like it might be worth a try. thanks.

The best £20 I have ever spent
My new horse had never travelled alone (although I was not told this prior to buying him) took him out in the lorry and he got in such a state that I couldnt even unload him safely at the other end and had to bring him home. He was foaming and shaking and trying to barge out of the lorry.
I invested in a mirror which I have placed right infront of him as no where else really to put it and he is a changed horse. He now travels quietly and is always dry at the other end. He even stands quietly in the lorry when we get to shows. So I would recommend giving them ago.
