Just seen a supplier who is offering 42 bales (a pallet) for the equivalent of £4.18 per bale

Doesn't say size/weight of bales but this sounds cheap?!

How many bales (on average) would be used to make up a 12x12 stable?

Edited to add just spoken to the guy and the miscanthus is around 18-20kg bales

If it the same one that we use made by Easy Pack then i would recommended

My boy is 17h and at the moment out at night in during day and has one bale every 7-10 days, in the winter i did not have him but had a 15'3 and he used one a week

I find it easy to muck out and it rots down fast

I do find that miscanthus can differ, I used to get the easypak stuff now for ease we get it from mole valley which is cheaper (which I think is fennington fibres). I do prefer the easypack, the MVF stuff is a lot less chopped/split in comparison but that is probably personal preference.
I notice more because I used to use it for the guineapigs but the MVF cheaper one isn't really great for them.

That is definitely cheap though!
