I lost my mare suddenly in July and still miss her so much every day i cant explain.
Looking at pictures this morning and can't stop crying - I would give anything to give her a massive hug and go for a hack over the downs and just spend time with her

not only have I lost my beautiful mare, and the whole lifestyle that comes with owning a horse, but i've moved country to study for a semester, so have had so many big changes in the past few months and feel like I have nothing familiar or comforting here :-(

I am desperate to ride again or just be around horses cos its been such a long time, but I can't afford lessons where I am plus I know riding something else would be hard as it just wouldnt be 'right' if that makes sense - havnt ridden anything other than April properly in four years!!

Guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself but life is hard sometimes and I didn't realise how important April really was to me until I lost her. Think its especially hard because of the sudden and horrible way I lost her ... love and miss you my prilly pony

Find a loan horse!! Explain the situation... I guarentee you may get on another horse for the first time and feel sad but you'll soon recover the love for the sport!!

Be brave and get back into it :)

Bless you. She was beautiful. Such a kind face. What you are feeling is perfectly natural. I lost my old racer 2 yrs ago last May, and my cob at the end of January this year. I still miss them both such a lot, and still have a cry over them. I do have a new horse, a 17 month filly, and she is wonderful, but I still yearn for my boys. You don't really realise until they are no longer there just exactly HOW much they meant to you. I know exactly how you feel, and know how difficult it must be for you. Just try to think of the happy times, and you know, she IS still with you. In your heart and your memories, and she will never leave you. ((( big hugs))) xx Take care

Im in Amsterdam until Dec for uni so not really feasable here :-(
Def wanna try once I get back to the UK, but will be the worst time to get back into it (final semester of my last year of uni - so much work!!). Though think the urge to ride and be around horses again will override my sensible side and I will end up sharing/loaning again in the new year

Thanks for the encouragement, don't think it'll get easier the longer I leave it so just need to throw myself back into the horsey world!

So sorry for the loss of your two in a short space of time, must've been heartbreaking :-( it really is awful isnt it, they become such a big part of our lives and its her special little quirks and habits that I miss the most. She was such a character and I know I wont find another quite like her!!
I wish, like you, I had another to channel my energies into ... i feel so lost without my trip to the yard every morning and evening (still, a good 4 months on!!)

Oh what a pretty girl :) I understand just how you feel . I lost my Baby in August and i miss her so so much. simple things like swedes in supermarket set the tears falling. She was my friend and rock through some dark dark times. But the fact we miss our loved horses is the depth of what they meant to us. ))))))) a big hug(((((( to you and yes the tears are falling again x x

Yes, really silly things set me off too, like you often in the most innapropriate of places! My mare got me through a lot too, I owe her so much for that - she was always there when I needed her when friends and family couldnt really help.
Thank you for the much needed hug, sending one back your way for you and the memory of your baby. How lucky we were to have two amazing mares in our lives, even for such a short time
