Missed the prize giving at Olympia

So...went to Olympia last night. As we were leaving the tube station, a member of staff was standing there announcing the last train was at 11pm.

We managed to watch all the dressage but I wanted to stay to watch the prize giving (and also hear the official results!). However, instead they decided to do a rambling interview with Laura B beforehand. Got to 10:45 and decided we would have to go to make sure we catch the last train as we didn't know how much longer this was going to go on for.

Get on the train. 11pm, driver makes an announcement "so it looks like the event has run late and most of you are only just coming out so I'm going to wait for a bit". Didn't leave til nearly 11:15.

So we COULD have stayed to watch the end. Grrrrrr! Thanks TfL!

Oh dear! You have my sympathy, I was watching on TV and the interview with Laura B was pretty poor!

they didn't show it on the telly either fwiw

Presumably they have to rebandage/prep the horses hence they require a filler in between this so the interview wasn't really done for entertainment purposes?

Yep, was a bit fed up when the tv cut it off and they had only got up to announcing 6th place ..

They could have done it earlier! Or when they had a 15 minute break in the dressage.

Found it annoying that they said the train would leave at 11, so really, for those people that decided they wanted to sacrifice seeing the prize giving to get home in time they should've left at 11!

Ester, that would've been better as we had to p*** a lot of people off getting them to move half way through her interview so we could leave!

I had some old lady tell me off!

Don't blame TfL! Last train is supposed to be 2258, with Olympia's advertised finish at 2230. If the tube had left at scheduled time, it would have left lots of people stranded, having to make alternative arrangements and caused upset and inconvenience. All credit to Tfl for holding the train. We saw all prizegiving and jogged to Olympia tube and still arrived before 2258.
Perhaps Olympia should not have squeezed so much in and scheduled an earlier finish to avoid problem. Monday night finished 2130.
