I believe that public appeals&news interviews are often set up by the police and specialist police teams scrutinise the behaviour of family membersqin camera very closely-it is often more of an exercise to see who cracks under pressure. Be assured that the police must have a very good angle on this one,by the sounds of it. I hope that she is safe&well-I was at the Olympics last week and there were 'missing' photos of her all over the Tube& train stations-very,very sad. Controversial tho it is and this may 'define' me as a poster too much to some people (and maybe I shouldn't say it) but I agree with others...for some, the death penalty is deserved. If it was my child,I'd goddam want it.

Quite often the police will get certain people/family members to make a public appeal for a reason. They will have watched every facial expression, body movement and each word. There is a reason why they got the step grandfather to do a public appeal :(

Just read that a bag of blankets and bedding has been removed from the house in evidence bags (presumably for forensics).

This really is not looking good - and yes, they put suspects in front of the camera to watch every single movement they make, every eye move, blink, twitch. Not saying it is this guy, but hmmmmm.

When I read about it now, I just think that if she has gone, I hope it was quick.

And yes, Captial Punishment should be brought back for child killers, but with our human rights laws, there is no way - the only justice would be from others in jail.

Terrible, but hardly a surprise frankly. Poor kid - broken family, grandmother young enough to be her mother and dodgy "stepgrandfather". Pound to a penny he raped her first.

Poor girl :(

I'm surprised they've left it a week before searching the house!

Am beginning to think the grandmother may be involved as well :(

Might not be the grandfather. The mother has gone AWOL as well, and surely the grandmother would know if things had been moved in the house.

Unfortunately some people will turn a blind eye to what their lover does. There have been plenty of children who have been interferred with by their "father" (blood or otherwise) and their own mother hasn't believed them and let it carry on.

If only you had to have a licence to have children (and an intelligence test).

allegedly the grandfather had previously been in a relationship with the girls mother before he hooked up with the grandmother!!!
sad fact that a high percentage of kids disappearing involves a family member:( i had a feeling from the start that this would be one of those cases, wish i had been wrong :(

So sad, RIP Tia.

One has to hope that it was very quick whatever happened and that she was not there, kept as a prisoner and killed very recently otherwise the police will be hung out to dry for not doing this search any earlier. Surely ruffled feathers from those who own the house would be a small price to pay if it had found her earlier.

Supposedly they searched the house 4 times, twice of which was with dogs! How on earth did they miss her. It is an absolute disgrace quite frankly. I assume we will read all the gory details in the papers but RIP little lady xx

What a dysfunctional, scummy family. A step grandad aged 37, convicted for drug offences and caught with a machete, involved with both mother and grandmother?! Poor kid didn't stand a chance with that lot

Was it the step grandfather? I heard him on the news saying she was a golden angel (or words to that effect) and thought it was a very odd turn of phrase.

Poor poor child :(
