Statement on rider fall at King’s Forest Spring Ride

Endurance GB has confirmed that a horse is missing following a rider fall at King’s Forest Spring Ride in Suffolk.

An extensive search is ongoing across the King’s Forest, an area covering more than 5,000 acres, for Basil de Mulo, a grey gelding, owned by rider Karen Grieg who was taking part in a 32km class on Saturday. Ms Grieg, a member of Endurance GB’s Cotswold Group, was unhurt in the incident.

Police and RAF officers are involved in the hunt for the missing horse who parted company with his rider just under an hour after leaving the venue at Wordwell, north west of Bury St Edmunds. The search, covering 100s of miles of forest tracks and heathland, continued until nightfall on Saturday and resumed at first light this morning.

A spokesman for the ride organiser said that the horse, who is wearing a distinctive bright orange bridle and black saddle, had last been spotted on Sunday morning by members of the public at a location on the west side of the forest near Icklingham.

Any sightings of the horse should be reported to ride organiser Dianne Luke on 07909 843958

Hope they find him soon, been over 24hrs now and still no sign. I know it's a vast area but you would hope someone would see him soon. Fingers crossed for his poor owner

With the number of competitors there this weekend doing all kinds of different loops on top of all the dog walkers etc usually in the forest, it's really not good that he hasn't been found and caught! I feel for the owner!
