The main reasons are due to stock being out in the fields & also that the ground can get to hard, like it can get too wet in the season!

Plus hounds like horses need a break to re-coup ready for the next season.

Plus crops - and of course the warmer dry weather we HOPE we might get one summer just doesn't hold a scent for 5 minutes.

Plenty round your neck of the woods in the West Country - mainly based in Devon, but would give a hunting fix for the summer.

You've got the Ytene, Four Shires, Culmstock, Devon & Cornwall

Are you coming to Honiton Show? If so look out for me and our hounds in the bright blue uniforms.

Oooooooooooooh how exciting, right, a bit of travelling involved but worth it for a summer fix! Now I just need to get something to hunt! My youngster could make his first appearance I guess, whats the day/pace like with the mink hounds? I have no experience of them at all. Possibly will be at Honiton yes, will keep a look out for you!

Yup minkhounds are all on foot - an excellent chance to see hounds working, it takes place from May to September and generally for the field involves a slow ramble down the riverbank to the nearest pub. Always wear old clothes, long trousers are best while the nettles are still stinging and take a change of clothes as sometimes the only option is to wade the river.

You won't be able to miss us as Honiton! We'll be the ones dressed in bright blue, but without the welsh accents!

Hi, everybody! For good hunt it is necessary to take into account many factors. In particular case the state of humidity, weather and other great deal. It is therefore problematic to conduct hunt weigh year

We started our season on Saturday - great fun to be out on the river again, but after a slight disagreement with a bramble thicket while trying to get back into position, I am now modelling the traditional minkhound staff look of arms cut to buggery. Fear not, the followers are free to take the path of least resistance on the mown parts of the riverbank!
