My oldie has gone to our local MFH for a couple of months as he needs to stay in work and what with new one and the minis, and sharer busy also with non horsey stuff he just wont get used until the spring.

Our MFH really liked him and said old horsey loves men and adores hunting! He was "trialled" today on local hunt and it really worked out well, he was on the trailer this evening and off to his temporary holiday home!!

Odd thing is he has stayed overnight at friends houses/stables etc, but always been with me for years!

Feels nice to only have minis and new one to muck out but really surreal!! - quite missing him and have found myself worrying about whether he is warm enough and happy etc!!!

Am I daft or what?! MFH will look after him well I have no doubts about that, but is it normal to miss a horse this much when he is coming back in a couple of months and only 30 mins away!!!

not sad at all, i am on hols in australia and whilst ive realised there is life without my boy, and quite enjoying having a full day to laze around / sunbathe / sail / shop etc ie no morning yard run or evening visit, i am missing him heaps and even got up at 4am perth time to email the yo and my friend who are caring for him as i was having "nasty dreams". it sounds mad emailing at 4am but it was a decent uk time i promise! im thinking about riding out here, done it loads on last trips but somehow feels a little unfaithful - altho maybe just a quick one (half day) for my birthday next week. enjoy your time, a change is as a good as a rest.

thanks eaglestone, loads and loads of hugs to him and he likes to be "tissed " on his muzzle, well i like to tiss him haha. forum members - panic ye not, he doesnt only get mucked out on sundays hehe - rota system in place

Don't worry, last Christmas I went on a 10 day trip with my school (well just before xmas) to the Lake District (about 5 hours from us) to like an activity camp, we went mountain walking, cavining, absailing ect ect...I enjoyed it, but I spent most of the evenings despratly homesick...For my ponies. Not for my house or my parents or anything, I just REALLY missed my girls.

Everyone was shocked when I declined their offer of us all going again over the summer.
