Hmmmmf just been looking at photos on my phone of my old pal Alfie :( he's a horse angel now :) miss him loads
! I've bought myself a baby now who's just turned 2 today so hopefully he will give me as much pleasure and happiness as Alfie did :)

It'll be 5 months nearly since he went but still feels like yesterday I was feeding him mince pies! (Well they weren't going to harm him anymore lol!)

This is me and alf the day before he went. Love you pal hope your having fun up there!

Only time will help ease the aches and gradually the happy memories engulf you when you miss them the most. I hope you and your youngster have a very happy future, and I'm sure Alfie is playing along with you in spirit too x

He looked lovely :) Good luck with your young'un!

I still miss my two- 21/7/06 and 27/8/11, sometimes find it hard to believe I ever had two such cracking ponies. It was always a dream that I thought would never come true.

Couldn't leave this thread without saying so sorry......... have been there.

I lost my first pony 28 years ago now, he was a dear little chap, pony in a zillion, dapple grey and every child's dream. I still think of him; to look at his photo's will still raise a tear.

Ditto my last old boy - bless him, he was another horse in a million, by god they don't make horses like that anymore.

Know exactly how you feel. Miss my two boys still. Bob left me 2 years ago at the end of the month, and Murphy at the end of January this year. Always think of them, and wish they were still here. I now have a little filly, who will be a year next week. She is lovely, and I love her to bits, but my two boys will always be in my heart.I think of them sometimes with a smile, and sometimes with tears, but I'm sure they are watching over their "little sister"! x

Lost my old boy Wednesday morning, went out to feed his head was down standing at the back of the stable he didn't move an inch when I took is feed in. I knew he'd had enough. The vet was out within the hour and he went down quickly and gracefully. He was 37 and I'd had him 16 years. I believe you get a horse of a lifetime and he was it. Just two days on and he's left such a gap, I've got another two but they'll never come close to him. They say times a healer but after reading all your posts I'm not so sure!! Group hug!

What a beautiful and handsome horse he was. Lovely photo! I lost my mare Crystal last June. I miss her very much, I was devastated to lose her and expected to have her around for another 10 or so years :(
Now I just try to be very positive and focus on the horses I have. I was lucky with the timing that my daughter's mare needed a tendon op and I rehabbed her, really throwing myself into the rehab and sticking to it religiously. That was my way of coping with my loss. I also have another rehab horse (I seem to collect them ) in my 17hh WB and he has required much patience and time and I am really seeing the results now. Good luck with your youngster and enjoy spending time with them.

It is never easy, but with time it does get a little better when you can laugh at all the great times that you shared together and the wonderful memories that you have can never be taken away from you. My last boy was 12 years ago, and even now I can look at a photo, see something or hear something and I will have a little cry. You will always miss him but it will get easier to cope with. My thoughts are with you, take care x

What a lovely horse, no wonder you miss him. I still miss my old boy, a year and a bit later. I have two other horses but they don't get under my skin like he did.
