2 years ago, I loaned two horses - Tim and my Tont. The woman who owned them decided that she needed to reduce the numbers, so I had to choose which one I wanted to keep.

Tim is 13.2 and a lovely ride/drive pony who loves his work.
Tont is only 13.0, and at that point was 14 and unbroken, as you couldn't catch him or anything - but I had a strong bond with him.

I loved them both to pieces, but I chose Tont - as I couldn't imagine never seeing him again. Tim was sold to a trekking centre near a local forest.

I've just been looking back at the photos of Tim, and I still miss him so much and I keep doubting whether I made the right choice. I had so much fun riding him, and he really boosted my confidence. I know I can't change the past, but I do keep wondering if I should have kept Tim. It doesn't help that I am constantly stressing that I am too big for Tont, even though I doubt 2 inches would make that much difference

I know how lucky I am to have a pony at all, who does mean the world to me, but I just needed to get this out. I doubt it helps that I am tired and feeling emotional :o

Sorry that this was pointless, but thank you for letting me get this off my chest :)

(((((((((hugs))))))))) to you. It's not pointless. It's good to let it out, I hope you feel abit better this morning. It's horrid when you have to choose between ponies. I've had to make desitions in the passed and although I know I've always made the right one in my heart, it has never stopped me wondering what could have been or maybe I made the wrong one. I firmly believe everything happens for a reason. It sounds to me like Tont was ment to stay with you, What chance would he have had at finding a nice home.
Tim looks lovely and i'm shore he's off having a lovely life but he'll never forget his time with you and he's probably happy you gave his friend a chance in life.
and your right 2 inches doesn't make much diffrence ;)
Take care. There's always people here who will listen (read) if you need to let it out. If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to PM me anytime if you wish and i'll try my best to help if i can or just lend a friendly ear if that's what you need. x

I had to sell my beloved horse when we emigrated years back, and I still think about him a lot, and miss him. I actually had a breakdown over it.

((((((((((HUGS)))))))) xxx

Thank you for the kind words and the hugs, it really means a lot :)

Laura Wheeler - I think I did make the best decision for the ponies, as I know that Tim loves his new home but I doubt we would have found a nice home for Tont :( Thank you for the offer, I really appreciate it :)

Oh bless u! think of it like this Tont was 14 an unbroken so would have most probably been passed from pillar to post if u let him go :( where as, as harsh a this sounds Tim has a lot more going for him as he ride and drive do is more likely to stay put in one home :) i hope that didnt sound evil as i didnt mean for it to i jut wanted u to see things in perspective

chin up
