Went to see Missy yesterday. She's been weaned about 6 or 7 weeks now, and is in a large pen with two colts and a miniature Shetland. She's come on a lot, must be about 13.2 now I guess, and best of all her legs have all straightened up which is a relief. Her head doesn't look really foal-like anymore, I think it's going to be just like her mums. In the pen she is boss, but without having to throw her weight around, then it's the shetland, who DOES throw her weight around (she was double-barrelling one of the colts when we arrived!), and then the boys are bottom of the pile. We also went out to the field where Deco is living out with about 15 other mares. She looked thoroughley fed up, not sure she likes this natural lifestyle. I really really want one more foal from her, but after that I think that will be it.
