my new mare has feather mites and i have tried frontling but she has so much feather i cant get it all right to the skin. has anyone tried the injection?

Can you clip some of her feather off to give you acces to her skin?
If you aren't showing her I would be tempted to clip her feather off until the mite clears up.

Apparently (according to my vet ) it goes with the territory (my new boy has them too) he tells me just inject them every 6 months and this should keep the little blighters at bay...

just done one of mine 11 days ago and all the redness swelling an scabs are gone i give him a dectomax injection then washed him every other day with hibi scrub i am going to give another injection in the morning to kill the lice that would of just hatched

Mine has the dectomax injections - have 2 14 days apart clears them up nicely but will need to be repeated.

dectomax works well tho not licensed for horses. 2 injections 2 weeks apart then another 3 to 4 months later. should clear the problem up for next 10 to 12 months then repeat.
