Last night I went out for a hack and my normally placid ex racer kept having wee spazzy moments where he would twitch and then throw himself all over the place very brielfy?! We had been on a long hack at the weekend and thought perhaps his back was hurting a bit wasnt too worried as he is getting physio today anyway which would sort any niggles.

However, when I took his tack back to the tack room I instantly got a bump on my arm where I'd been holding the saddle that was really itchy. I then rememebered the last time I used this pad (a while ago) he had done the same and when carrying the tack back had got two horrendously itchy lumps on my arm?! I have washed the pad since then but after last night I am wondering if there is something on it?

Has anyone ever known there to be mites or something on a saddle pad that are resistant to washing machines?! And what I can use to get rid of them?

There doesnt appear to be any signs of bites on his back and I have no other problems with this sort of thing with other pads and or rugs?

Any advice?

Wash it again and if still a problem maybe try putting it in a bag into the freezer? should kill anything else lurking in there, tho I would think the wash would have killed anything.
