Mitsibushi L200 for towing??

Hi all,

Fred is going to horspital next Thursday and my oh (who has had a fair bit of experience towing) is going to take him. I am a bit of a panicker

and I just wanted to know if anyone tows with an L200. Not the big hardcore looking ones but the fairyish relative?? I think it's called a fourwork??
It will be pulling Fred and his best friend (also quite fairyish because he gets a bit flustered when left alone) up some scary Highland roads. Do you think all will be well?? Both horses are thoroughbreds 16.2 and 15.2.

An L200 should manage that load easily but just remember their turning circle is appalling so you need lots more room as opposed to say a swb vehicle. It might be an idea to put a weight in the back of the pick up as they can be light sometimes (like a Hi-Lux) Also remember to give them the smoothest ride you can and use the gears to slow down over a greater distance rather than braking at the last moment and to not take corners/bends or hills sharply. (sorry if that's teaching OH to suck eggs but it's a lot different pulling horses as opposed to a load of bricks as horses move and can alter the balance)

totally agree about the turning circle . we used to tow with one and i used to have to take the corners very wide and very slow. not a car i would want to tow with all the time.

Thankyou for all that information!! The horses travel like dreams so hopefully thats half the battle. There are some pretty steep hills to get to the horspital so my main concern was whether or not we would make it

The whole travelling horses thing really scares me

I tow with mine all the time and it's fine, just make sure you have some good weight in the bed like a bale of shavings or 2 and fill the diesel tank up. It has plenty of pulling power but the back-end can get bouncy if you don't load it down. this is purely because they have suspension to cope with a 1 tonne payload.
