Anyone done this? Rio isn't very messy in his toilet habits, he just drags his toes so drags the bedding round which then mixes the wet around, he's on 32mm thick mats so doesn't need masses of bedding for comfort, more for soaking up the pee and I thought if he were on a mix like this it wouldn't move so much being heavier and the pee would sink to the bottom of the bed? Thoughts?

Thanks, I've always used and loved pellets but with more people on the yard than previous years space to store them is scarce with no local stockists so I'd have to order a quarter pallet, which we wouldn't even use in a whole winter as he is only in on the odd night when the weather is horrid.

Silly question perhaps, but...why mix it? I find a thin layer of Easibed (with thicker banks to drag a bit of new after removing droppings/wet) works very well on its own (on rubber mats). It's quick, non smelly, and very economical. Also very little bulk for the muck heap and rots down well. Unlike shavings.

I like the mix. We did it swapping from a similar product to easibed to small shavings at work and found you got the best of the two products.
The bed was more stable (they didn't have deep beds so tended to go through to the floor) it was easier to muck out I thought as the bed was looser than shavings so the fork jabbed in easier!
The shavings kept the bed fluffier and it was just a good combo.
I've tried Safemix and tbh didn't think much too it.
I'm bringing my two horses back in this week and will be using a mixture myself again.
I generally just alternate which I put in, nothing complicated!
