They,re cheaper than some I've seen but you'll find that buying the wood is the cheapest option as long as you follow a safe design and use the correct wook thickness in case of accidents.
 
You could make the brush holder one by cutting old pallets in half and adding feet, then filling with brush.

We have a garage, and always have tons of old tyres that we have to pay to get rid of - we would gladly give them away, and I'm sure that other garages around you would too. If you bang in two fence posts, then nail a piece of wood that has tyres around it onto the two posts you have a tyre jump that is an easy starter jump for a youngster if you get small tyres..

So thats two XC jumps for under £20 already...

Don't be tempted by the polyjumps plastic XC jumps - they're awful, and horses learn to smash through them easily! I'd rather a horse knows that XC jumps should not be touched!
