I'm thinking of setting up a mobile tack shop with my van, driving round to local yards selling my own stock but also being a distributor for Shires etc. My friend did this many years ago but had to give up as she also had a shop and couldn't afford the rent.

Would you use this kind of service? Or is there a service like this in your area?

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks, Carys.

I thought of doing this and researched it thoroughly - then I got pregnant!!!

I would def use this service, especially if there were 'testers' available as sometimes Bob takes full size and sometimes extra full - depends on the make!!! It's a faff buying something only to find it doesn't fit and you have to take it back.

there is one that comes to our yard every other saturday- she carries quite a good range of stock and everyone uses her- even if it's just for a bag of treats.

I think this is a great idea, I would definitely use it especially if as another poster has said you have testers. It is so hard to know if something is actually going to fit so you maybe wouldn't normally buy it.

i would definatly use it great idea

Yes i think it would be good. I agree with the person wo said about if you sold it one week then arrange to come back the following week if changes or different sizes are needed.
I go to loads of yards to promote my site every week and I was so surprised how many people are milling around at random times of the day in yards big and small. I think it is a great idea. YOu could even go to private yards at the end of people's gardens. I would love that, a more 1-2-1 sales experience could be more beneficial.

Good luck x x x

There used to be a lady in our area who did this, and I've always thought it was a good idea.

She used to have both new and used equipment and I think she probably had links with local saddlers as she used to be able to rustle up several saddles for a given horse which she would bring along for you to try.

I'm not quite sure why she packed it in, but if I had the chance, I'd give it a try.
