I have put up cross country jumps in the school such as corners and arrowheads but i was wondering about a ditch.

My horse doesnt really have a problem with them, just the case that he hasnt seen them before so just practise and time. But i was wondering if you can make a mock ditch to use in the school?

I thought maybe a black bin liner with wood nailed to it around the edge to look like it had some depth. . ?

I know you can do this for water jumps, was just wondering about a mock ditch

I use 2 poles, about a foot apart. Black bin liner/blue tarpaulin underneath depending on how brave your horse is. You could also put wings at the sides and maybe a pole at a height of about 9" above the 'ditch' to help the horse get the idea too - just make sure its small enough to jump from a standstill if he hesitates.

When i took him XC schooling he would jump ditches with jumps over, but an open ditch he was a bit hesitant, i will try the bin liner idea, im sure it is just getting him used to them. .

thanks for the idea of using jump poles hadnt thought of that
