Only ever doen mock hunting. My pony adores it! BUT is there a trick to getting him to stand still when I am trying to take a breather/hip flask moment!?

It is a nightmare as I have to walk round aand round on my own and if I try to stop he just backs up into anything!

When I first started to take Salad - first meet was boxing day with the Badsworth (when they still were just the Badsworth) he spent all his time running backwards, then leaping about when the field moved off. I just kept him out of the way.

After about 3 he started to settle once he'd had a run, and by the end of the season he was standing nicely on a loose rein any time required.

It's worth just keeping going, stay out of their faces (I used to just giggle and get the flask out anyway :) ) Stay relaxed and go with someone with a well mannered hunter to start with - he's now the well mannered on other people go with....
