I know it sounds stupid doesn't it but in my defence after the little ones injury all we have done with him since september is walk for miles in the school and outside to get some strength and muscle back. Now I like walk for a complete lackiing in confidence person with flashbacks of my crash it is safe secure and to be honest I had got to the point of being grateful that I can only walk Vardi under vets advice till March.
3 Weeks ago vet checked him and said to start trotting on the lunge for short periods all fine no lameness, and when I was lunging on Friday vet was there seeing another horse and said I think you can start to trot him under saddle now, short periods, not too small a circle but go for it....GULP
So Yesterday I had a lesson booked with my trainer who patiently watched for 20 mins then said "so when are you actually going to attempt trot then"
So I did and it was fine! being a youngster Vardi's steering is a bit off so you need to make everything big at the moment but it was fine and I felt secure.
Vardi as normal was a total star he was sharing a school with someone practising their dressage test on his best mate and two small children on poines of the small fat hairy and bloody minded variety so he had to listen to me to avoid any pile up moments but was as normal saintly he has never been worked in a school with another horse before.
Totally pointless post but I am pretty bloody proud of myself and continually amazed by my super cool baby horse.
