Can someone please tell me the name of some I'm struggling to find one.

She has itchy skin so want to keep away from Alfa Alfa , and molasses well because it's just sugary rubbish.

Not too keen on the just grass type chaffs as unsure about laminitis , she a new horse and seems a pretty good doer. Would be happy with a straw based chaff.

Can't seem to find any though.

Help please :)

I use the honeychop oatstraw. If they are used to a mollassed chaff they can turn up their nose at it, but once I add a mini scoop of Brewers yeast and a bit of salt, they eat it well. It's slippery stuff, gets everywhere because there's nothing to bind it together, but I love it and a bag lasts for ages. I have to order it from my feed merchant though.

hifi do a molasses free chaff (hi fi molasses free or healthy hooves molasses free) and top spec do top chop lite which is also molasses free.

They might be more appetising even if only a halfway house to bagged pure chopped straw

Thunderbrook do a really nice chaff. It last forever and it literally has no rubbish in it. Very wholesome. I switched my girl to it about six months ago along with the base mix and shes never looked better. You feed tiny amounts so it goes a long way. Other than that I know honey chop do one.

Hifi is alfalfa based, if you are looking to avoid it then you will need to avoid the whole dengie range.
I feed either Ossi-Chaff Plain or Just Chop both of which are simple straw/hay chops with nothing added in.
The market for such simple foods tends to be very local so speak to your local feed merchant about what they can source for you.

Dengie molasses free, alfa free is tasty but expensive. My boy was always itchy on cereals / cubes, so moved on to non-molassed beet, minerals and micronised linseed. Skin no longer itchy. And the total feed cost is cheaper than any other diet, but I do weigh everything, and keep a record on a spreadsheet, as it is so easy just to feed 30% more than required, or buy a supplement on impulse, adding £20 per month to costs!
There is some oat straw in the Dengie, and it is the only molasses free one available round here

Mollichaff Calmer. My mare cannot tolerate molasses and alfalfa and she wouldn't touch Just Chop. She loves the Calmer. It is 7% sugar, but is just straw with herbs and grass pellets.

I'm always amazed by how many people don't realise HiFi contains alfalfa!

Alfalfa is useful as straw is low in protein and some minerals and alfalfa is good levels of both.

So....if cutting it out its very important to replace those minerals (eg using good quality minerals like Forageplus) and also to preferably feed something better in protein like soaked hay as 50% of ration.
