Around 8 MASSIVE mole hills have appeared in my pony's paddock this week.

What can I do about them? I know I cant prevent them, but once they've happened, what can I do? Should I knock them down and spread the soil? Leave them upright? Are they a trip hazard if left up or can my pony fall down them if knocked and spread?!

Any advice much appreciated :)

Haribo's for those who can help x

I feel your pain! Our field has a resident mole at the mo and I seem to spend all my times kicking his little piles over! I kick them over and spread the earth around as once they become established and the grass grows on them they are hard to remove and you will end up with a bumpy field!

I do hate spreading the earth around though as I'm covering up precious grass which is a bit of a premium here! I'm sort of hoping I will be having a similar effect to harrowing though lol just on much smaller scale! I could be kidding myself with that one though :)

I did a little google and apparently the soil is very fertile as its well aired and very fine. My field is quite bare and luckily the hills are down one side (the same side he poo's) so in theory, the dried poo (last person to use the field never picked so there is quite a lot of dry/well rotted manure) and good soil spread thinly should do the world of good! xx

Excellent news! I will carry on my little hill kicking crusade happy in the knowledge that I'm helping my field hehe :)

I had one delivered to my doorstep one morning courtesy of my helpful cat! Poor little guy, he was so cute, and incredibly soft!

But meany that I am I've been secretly hoping she's going to catch this one aswell because its becoming a bit of a pain!

We have them as well atm!

I kick them over when poo picking, or run the harrow over them in drier conditions.

A little tip - don't try and kick one when it is frozen, blooming hurts!

I'm hoping its just passing. Its gone across the corner and then along the edge of the field into the next door neighbours farm land.

My old yard was covered in mole hills. How I didnt break my leg or neck falling over them in the dark I'll never know. xx

I have them too... Well actually they might be ant hills, I lose track. I use the soil from them to fill in the fox holes. Nature eh?!

I don't worry too much about my horse tripping on them, haffies are supposed to be sure footed although mine is possibly not the best example!
