Hello all

Just bought a sack of mollichaff for the first time, feed merchants out of chaff till tomorrow and thought I'd give this a go. Noticed it smelt really strong just chucking it in the boot but quite nice and sweet. Anyway just opened bag and Jesus wept it bloody stinks! Really thick silage type of smell and so wet it was hard to get out of bag at first!

Just wonderedvif anyone on here uses it and if it is supposed to be so pungent? It's the mollichaff extra or something like that.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for replys, well at least others have advised of the strong smell, amazed how sweet and sticky it is as the nutritional content on the back looks like it's a low sugar bulk feed, as this stuff looks like it will rot pony's teeth LOL and it's not mollichop it's the mollichaff stuff :-)

Is it the original one? Afraid they had a bad batch a few weeks ago, you may have been given one of those? They usually smell very sweet. I mentioned this to the feed merchant the other week, and was told they had some bags that were not quite right, and if I wanted to change it that would be ok.

TBH not really going to drag a £4 bag of open feed back in my car! The next bag was the same. Mine ate it - feed merchant said Marksway said it was ok to feed. No harm done, but I did end up chucking the second bag as I managed to get hold of an ok one and was having a tidy out of the feed room anyway.

Hope this helps?!

Ah that might be the one, I think it does smell a bit off not that nag would care, the little wretch got out of it's paddock the other day to snaffle on a manky haylage bale- filthy thing. She was so pleased, like all her birthdays had come at once xxx
