Since I came back to riding in March after my blip, I have been working so hard improve my confidence and in turn the way of going for Dangerous Brian. We have been doing lots of dressage and there have been definite improvements but the comments are always "unsteady contact" and "needs to work over back".
I have very recently started to have weekly lessons with a new instructor. On our first session I was really nervous and rode like a lemon and Brian went like he always does.
Fast forward to last night and despite him being a spooky idiot to start with because of the high winds, he started to knuckle down and all of a sudden I had this super horse in my hands (which were up and in the right position) lightly taking the contact, listening and swinging. It felt absolutely beautiful and I didn't want it to stop, what's more, instead of feeling worried about the next session, I literally cannot wait!
My instructor sent me a little montage of some video stills that she had taken and I just cannot believe the improvement. I could literally cry!
I want to leave dressage competitions for a few weeks, well I've got to as we've got polocrosse, horseball and jousting coming up with the other boys! Myself and Brian will be concentrating on our lessons and homework and I'm hoping to see a change in the marks/comments when we return to the boards!
