Hi there,

right now I´m not really looking for a horse, I´m just having an eye on the market and now I´m intersested if anyone knows the Monbeg stables and how much the horses are? I don´t want to bother them by asking and then not buying one...

thanx

We looked when we were in Ireland buying, they have a good reputation but I have to say the one we viewed was disappointing for the price tag. We bought elsewhere.
What sort of budget are you playing with potentially, then I can say whether it's worth speaking to them

Well,it depends on the horse but let´s say a 4-5 year old with an eventing result would be nice and I would spend up to 10.000 Euro, but for that prize the horse must be an angel!
I saw that they sold a 4 year old at the auction at Monarts at the beginning of November for 11.000 Euro, but I´m not sure what they asked for in the first place.
Where did you buy your horse in the end? I´m open for any suggestions ;)

Hi Jasmin, the price of good potential and young event horses is on the rise here I'm afraid. If you want to know the current prices then take a look at the recent Goresbridge Go For Gold sale results, the link is at the bottom. Most of the 3 yr-olds made well in excess of €10,000.

Most horses that go to that sale and Monart don't have eventing results, the same goes for those sold privately here. Instead a lot of four yr-olds go to training shows, are schooled x country and move well enough to make good event horses. So you are buying the raw material, once they have eventing results the price will then be higher.

It's a good time to buy now before prices get any bigger. I had an international eventer over from the UK last week who was doing just that and I found some lovely youngsters for her to look at. If you're looking for something to compete at the lower levels then prices will be more reasonable.

Hi Jasmin, I've only just joined the forum and seen this thread so apologies if this doesn't post correctly!!
Firstly I would never think anyone making an enquiry is in any way wasting my time. And personally I'm happy to be contacted by any means you prefer! The horse we sold at Monart was a three year old and I was asking €10,000 for him before the sales, so I was pleased he made a bit more, but I would've taken slightly less if I had had to!
To the second person who has posted, I'm really sorry we showed you something that left you disappointed. Unfortunately horses don't always show themselves as I hope and we too are left disappointed!! I really hope the one you bought elsewhere has turned out well and I wish you all the best with him/her.
