Hi

I'm soon to be in the process of pruchasing a new jump saddle. I want a monoflap and it is to fit a 16.3 ISH.

Obviously I know that it is what fits the horse best etc, but what do people have and like? I haven't bought one for a while. I quite like the Devoucoux but they have very mixed reviews, I wouldn't be buying new or M2M we have a local rep who has one that fits on initial inspection but hasn't seen me ride in it yet.

What other brands could I consider, I've always liked Prestige and I think Equipe make nice looking saddles which my local saddler stocks but I haven't been to her yet

Thanks

Was just coming on to say Patriot. Looks a bit, err odd. But as I understand it, although monoflap, is wool flocked and therefore doesn't suffer from the same issues often reported with the likes of Devocoux. I love mine.

I have six !!!
Yes wool flocked very adjustable you can have them with a point panel if that suits your horse.
I got one in Italian calf last week with a point panel it was £1700 made to measure .

As now_loves_mares says they look a bit odd but the Stirlingshire Saddle Fitters / Ideal Patriots are great. We don't have any other jumping saddles, my son loves them and the wool flocking gives much more adjustability if a horse changes shape as it matures or gets fitters. We actually have ours floated but that's just personal preference. They rarely come up for sale second hand sadly but new will probably be comparative to a second hand Devoucoux.

Same here, love my equipe. Feel very secure in it on my mare, who I can't describe as anything else but globe shaped :O
However, on long hacks I have to use a gel pad as otherwise my seat bones will complain.
13+-+3

Albion Kontact lite. I love mine. Wool flocked & adjustable. I especially like the flexibility being able to move the knee blocks gives.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the Patriot does look odd, is that a leather flap that covers the stirrup bar?

Equipe people, where did you buy from? My saddler stocks them but I'd like to research price a little before hand.

vic07- I had an Amerigo Vega but I had to sell it as it is too small for new boy. It has however lasted and kept very well, it is like new, I had it 6 or 7 years.

Just realised auto correct changed flaired to floated so that didn't make any sense - sorry! The leather bit cover the girth straps and webbing, stirrup bars are as normal under the skirt. I know in the past Stirlingshire have sent saddles to areas they don't cover for local saddlers to fit.

Pippa Spratt from Simply Saddles in Swindon - she is absolutely BRILLIANT :)

Smokes has a monoflap saddle, after Al spent all winter riding in Devoucouxs and loved them. He has a Barnsby Milton monoflap jump saddle, and it's very very nice on a very low budget (cost £400).

I had to buy a new saddle a month back as mine no longer fitted and decided on a mono for eventing.

Anyhow set my heart on the Frank baines as my last one was and loved it but the mono version. My saddle bought this and a Jaguar Harry Dabbs and i instantly fell in love with the Jaguar.

They do not make them anymore but I was lucky enough that my saddler had one in our size and fit.

Honestly feel so safe in it, although a CC it feels almost chunky but not in a bad way, I feel no matter how big the step, drop, oxer that if we approached it wrong (which we have) the knee rolls are in the perfect place and shape to help me ride it and balance better

Love my WOW. You can get any depth seat of type of flap you want. I've just got the GP type flaps and a shallow seat on mine as I use it for everything. It currently has a 17" seat (for me) on 16" panels as one of my horses is so short backed. Love the fact that I can change bits of it to suit whatever horse I have so in theory I'll never need to buy another saddle again.

I'm another patriot fan. I made a vast difference to my mares way of going, she was in a Harry dabs before which fitted but she seems to love the wide panels on the patriot
