Hi all,

Putting my event type mare in foal this season, first for the both of us!

Ive been looking at the stallion Monte Carlo, any opinions on him? especially temperament as although she's fab, she is hot/sharp!

Also been looking at...

Med Night Madoc- I like the Skippy side, have an old boy from his lines.
El thuder- Met him on Saturday, lovely boy, and fab jump.
Future Illusion?
Landato?
Amour G?

Any other suggestions, the mare is id/tb (cloverhill lines) x wb (dutch)

Looking primarily to event.

How do you put a photo on here? Im a first timer, can you tell?! will put a pic of her on here when i work it out.

i think you mean MED NIGHT MAHOUT ???
if so, i have a colt of his, out of a 15hh welsh sports horse, mother has super temp and nice mover, but is alittle idle, the colt is sensitive and more forward going but not mental, also i wanted something small and compact as i'm quite slight. HOUTS has a fab temperement and can jump too. check miss mahout, now out eventing and doing well.
also like the look of future illusion, youngstock doing well, have heard only good reports about this horse.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR RESEARCH.

Thanks for that dullage, yep it was Mahout, my mistake.

My boys g/sire is Skippy and his temp, jump and general attitude to life is next to none, a real trier, lovely paces but just lazy on the flat. There aren't many with Skippy lines, bar Jumbo left. Shame.

Seen some nice Monte Carlo stock in the show ring, couldnt tell you what they are like to ride or handle though as not had any myself.

El Thunder looks a lovely neat modern stamp and seen some of his youngsters from very different mares and he seems to stamp them well, small and neat with lovely heads and super temperaments, and very much eventers in type too.

I own Landato you are more than welcome to come and visit him if you want. Try and see as many of the stallions you are interested in as you can, that way you'll get a bit more of a feeling for their temperament and if they are what you like. Go with your gut instinct.

Newsquest and Dullage - have updated the Brendon Open Day post with some pics of our El Thuder boys. Both are VERY VERY much like their dad and the one that was bred out of the big SJ bred mare in hopes to produce a SJer is a classic modern eventing type....and the one out of a WPB mare is not far off it. I have seen two others by him, both also out of SJ bred mare's and both are very blood event types and all a lot like their dad. All are bays with minimal white on them and as such also very marketable in looks.
Temperament wise, you could not ask for more....both boys that we have are the nicest and most affectionate tempered yearlings I have ever known! Very trainable and intelligent at the same time. Tam, who isout of the Beachtime mare is also already showing an aptitude for his jumping talents, having jumped a 3'6 barbed wire fence with a ditch in front of it off of concrete and with a drop onto grass on far side when he was only 8 month's old!!!!!!! El Thuder himself is also now I believe out jumping (and winning) Newcomers, qualifying for Scope last weekend.

You can see more on our boys at http://oakwoodfarmstud.synthasite.com/ and just click on OFS Esquimaux Zed or OFS The Max Factor

On the subject of Future Illusion...I also love this boy and he throws undeniably beautiful and typey stock who are doing well in the futurity. Just waiting now to see him out competing himself....

Amour G - gorgeous stallion...can't wait to see his first crop next year.

Med Night Mahout - nice stallion - might just be too heavy to cross with your mare to produce an eventer,

Meant to also say that El Thuder's tempermant himself is AWESOME!! Have been in stable for cuddles many times...including having cuddles when he's been curled up on the floor having a nap!

Only just saw your post after already PMing you. You've just answered all the ?s in it really... The boys look fab. Really nice stamps, Very sellable type!

Glad about the breeding mainly bays, my mare is chestnut.

Thanks for the help!!!

He is not tested - howeverI would imagine he is homozygous agouti and thus throws only bays as ALL foals so far are very very much sold bays....inlcuding ours to our very very chestnut lady.
