I took Monty (4yr old) to his first little local show on saturday, I rode my other pony and led monty as we hacked there. Got there and Monty was really good, I stood for a bit then walked them round then stood to watch my mum jumping, Monty was being really good but out of the blue reared up high, then a mini rear so i walked him further away from the ring side and stood again, he reared high again kicking my elbow on the way down
.
Very painfull but carried on
Onto the dressage.
Took him in the school walked away from the gate an he napped and reared(first time under saddle) I pushed him on and started the test, He was going well so i decided to canter (he hasn't done much cantering so I was going to trot the canter parts) which went well, then half way through the test he napped again and wouldn't trot so we did most of it in walk, managed half the next canter
and then my circles weren't really circles.
First line of the judges comments was 'looked like pony wanted to be somewhere else' we got 97 out of 190
but we did get a 7/10 for our canter transition and canter
I then came 4th with my older pony and had to hack home.
How is everyone elses getting on with there young horses? sorry it turned out long
