Lola, my exmoor filly, was doing really well and i could catch her and stroke her and brush her all over and pick her feet really easily and she would come over in the field to be fussed (for those who dont know she was wild 7 weeks ago) and i was starting new things like pole work and putting saddlepad on etc.
but the last 3 days shes gone so strange!
I have been trying to get her used to having headcollar put on all the time as she is a bit cautious of it so lives in her field safe headcollar.
The last 3 days she has been walking away and turning away so her bum was facing us (not really maliciously with hears back but just sort of saying "no dont catch me" ) and today she kicked my mum when she went in to catch her.
I then worked on her this afternoon and everytime she turned her bum i chased her away and when she didn't i awarded her with strokes and kind words.
But over the last 3 days she has been getting progressively worse putting a headcollar on. I have been just holding the nose open near her mum and letting her put her nose in by herself and when she does really aawarding her but she has been putting her head close less and less. am i being too soft or doing something wrong?
any advice would be great She is still fine to be stroked and feet picked its just her geeting funny being caught and headcollar.

Thanks

7weeks does sound like early days still, just more time and patience needed really. You have to be firm but fair, you need to take the role of boss, but be a gentle one, and only acting like the boss when she is silly or needing a lead etc
Its about getting a nice balance of respect and trust and it sounds like you are well on your way, good luck with her :)
