I went down to the yard today, bright and early at 8:30, even after being at a party all night. (i help out at the livery yard i keep bob at just to help pay for some of the livery etc) and i move loads of bedding bags (not even supposed to be doing heavy lifting) i do the new block beds (7) and then go round to my mums car 2 get my drink. I get round back to the yard about 2 minutes later, and all hell breaks loose! Y/O's Sister screams at me "where have you been?" "slacking off i bet! we dont pay you 50p an hour to slack off" Yes thats right! a generous 50p per HOUR! and to this i replyed "Im having a bl**dy drink is that ok" at this she went off to ring Y/O and had a hissy fit on the phone. Gawd... what to do? im not giving up my weekends to contribute towards the livery for a measley 50p per hour, i can get a saturday job and earn more! i dont know why i put up with it! if you employ children, children is what you get! (she employs 11 "helpers" during the weekends and the odd few during the week.) im really confused, because i dont want to put more presure on my mum to pay the bills, but i dont know when i can get a saturday job by!

All Suggestions Welcome.

Stephen.

How old are you?
When I was 12 up to the age of 15 I was paid £10 a weekend to muck out 3 stables and ride all afternoon! My friend also worked there, there was 6 horses.

Ehm, I'd get a 'proper' job paying you decent money, start looking now and then when you find one, you can tell miss hissy fit where to go. That way, you don't put pressure on mum either

Before I started there at 8.30am I would walk about a mile to a cattery and get paid £5 for 2 hours work.
The money was for me though, not my mum.
She got tax credits etc for me.

thing is, im 15, so should get more than 50p per hour im guessing? and if i say, wash their pony's manes or tails, they make me pay for their shampoo and condit.. they used to make my mum pay for me to muck out? is it me? or is that ducked?

I was at first in it for the satisfaction of contribution to horses and people, but when im being payed under minimum wage, get shouted at for drinking and used as a verbal punchbag... i think it gets silly

yeah, its around 4.50, just talked 2 stepdad, going to work after school for him at his work, 5.00 per hour, making up orders (health supplement type things)

I would jack it in! You are 15, you would get better money else where! Even delivering leaflets or papers!
Cheeky gits making you pay for the shampoo!

Im 22 now BTW so it was a few years ago!

Yeah, off to talk to mum over dinner now, so shall talk later, cheers for the help, any more suggestions are welcome

tesco's own tea tree shampoo is pretty cheap!

. are you the same lad that was expected to be a free 'groom' at the shows for, who i assume are the same people making you buy there shampoo ?

Jack it in!!! I'm sure it's classed as "slave labour" what your current "employer" expect of you. I'm sure your worth better than the verbal and mental abuse you're having to put up with!!

Yeah, i am the person who was ranting a few weeks ago after being told i wasnt needed after helping some "friends" get their horses ready! however, my YO is definately not my friend :P made up with the people who told me they didnt need me, off to the yorkshire on the 10th with them

LOL, I use the tea tree or apple, they are both good. And cost a measly 69p!
I have just brought Bear an expensive one though, a bay enhancer one that cost £5.99
