Moon bits ... never heard of them ... your opinions?

We have one that is eggbutt rings and the moon link was copper. It was useful on a big warmblood that was light in the mouth but could lean, but he soon got used to it so we only used it occasionally.
I tried it on my big mare as she was slightly leaning on her lozenge snaffle but found a waterford too strong. She took no notice of this bit and I completely lost steering.
Sorry probably not much use.
