Jessie (see 'I broke my dog' thread for back story) is now really struggling with her sore foot. The vet nurse told me to soak it in Pevidine at a dilution rate of 40% and apply Flamazine (silver sulfadiazine) twice a day and put on a cotton sock to try and stop her chewing it. However, last night her foot looked very sore and raw and it was obviously hurting her a great deal. I missed out the Pevidine and just washed it in salt water and put on some medical grade manuka honey. She has another vet appointment tonight. Any ideas?? She, like a lot of bull terriers, has very sensitive skin so I'm worried that something we have used has adversely affected her. I hate to see her so miserable.

She's wearing an inflatable collar which stops her from licking the broken leg wound site but she can still reach her foot. The vets said that the cone collars aren't good when they're crated as they catch themselves all the time. She has been back to the vet tonight and is now to have the foot bathed in saline and then covered in Dermisol before putting a sock on and taping it around the 'ankle'. Her big, back pad looks as though it's coming off completely. Poor girl. She does seem happier though and was delighted to be going to the vets . . . especially as she was able to give a Westie a good staring at while she was there!
