More help needed please?

i have a mare that is 8/9 out of 10 lame she has a twisted pelvis witch is causes rotation through her stifles witch is causing acute muscle tension she can hordly walk she has been put on danilion today buy vet how long does it take for bute to start workin?
 
I always was under the impression bute from the vet had an almost immediate effect, just like when we have paracetamol

Poor little might, sounds painful, hope she's sorted soon xx
 
the vet has given me 24 sachets 2 twice daily for a week then 1 daily for a week then half a sachet a day for a week then is coming to see if she is better if so she can stay on maintaince dose for live or if worse or the same they said there is nothing else they can do for her!x
 
When my mare was on x4 a day there was a massive improvement after 24 hrs, but if her pelvis is twisted it was just reduce the pain rather that remove the problem, so you may not see a great deal of improvement soundness wise, she should seem happier in herself as it will help the muscle tension.
 
8/10th - 9/10th lame? Are you sure? Is that what your vet measured her lameness at?

Knowing what my mare looked like when she was 8/10th lame some weeks ago, (when she was rushed to the vet hospital), I would be quite concerned if a horse, in that much pain, only treatment was bute.

Ditto this too, my mare was only 2/10s at that dosage
 
Did the vet give her an injection for the pain?

Thats what they did with mine to get painkillers in asap. If they did then painkillers start working an awful lot quicker.
 
no pain killer injections! no the vet never said how lame that is just my prediction i may be wrong but her back end is crippled!

I'm sure that with your vet, you'll monitor this very carefully - and take whatever course of action is ultimately needed.........
