Yet again posting for a friend about lameness! I have my own idea what this is, but wondering what others think. The horse only went lame yesterday and she was giving a weekend of box rest before calling the vet I believe.

Horse is a 16.3 warmblood, 10yo with fairly low mileage and broken late as a 6yo, does jumping up to 1m and hacking mostly. She sent me videos (will have to ask if I can post them on here) of her looking a little off the other day, hardly noticeable though on a circle and straight line. Yesterday she said she seemed worse and a bit pottery on a circle with her lifting her head when the right fore was on the outside. The right fore is definitely the affected limb, but circling on the right rein, she seems totally sound and stretching down comfortably. On the left circle more uncomfortable.

Today she messaged to say she seems worse and is more noticeably lame on a straight line but still sound in walk. There is no heat, no swelling, she has squeezed and prodded all over with no reaction. Did a flexion test with no change too.

Any ideas welcome ! :)

Vet has been called today and is coming out Thursday she told me this evening, no idea actually about the flexion test. She said she found heat in the left foot when all the others were stone cold. No obvious heat since but she seems a bit better. I was thinking maybe PSD before, she was pacing in the stable, so is back out as far more relaxed there.

Vet came out today and found absolutely nothing, no swelling, heat, response to any tests. Her shoe was removed and hoof testers put on and the hoof searched, but nothing to show for the lameness. Any ideas welcome at this point! she is now worse with the shoe off and the next step is nerve block and a scan. How frustrating to find nothing at all.

not too different to my horse.
not right but not quite obviously lame. ( actually thought he had trod on something)
vet called he examined for ages trot, walk, lunged, and ridden.
a week later nerve blocked and x-rayed.
then referred to equine hospital for an MRI
they confirmed early stages of navicular.
( as caught early should be reversible)
cue treatment and special shoes.
now 7 weeks in on box rest and exercise but only in walk
vet coming back next week to recheck.
and lameness noticed the day after show jumping
which he did well at and nothing was noticeable.
hope all's well for your friends horse.

but mainly that she's insured.

Just spoken to her again today, the farrier came out and found a couple of swellings on the front of the cannon bone, not at all sore to touch, possibly a little heat. He agreed with the vet there are no issues in the foot. Shoe has been put back on as it seemed silly to make her footsore too. She is currently living out and not improving it seems, possibly getting worse but she is unsure as she may be imagining it !
I am still thinking PSD but apparently the vet and farrier seem adamant it is not that.
