Following on from my other post - I can't face going back to shavings so I'm going to give Cushionbed, Megazorb, Equisorb or Jopack a go.

Anyone tried any of these - any feedback? I'll be putting it down on concrete floors

Have you looked at Aquamax at all? I use it for my boy. He is downright disgusting in the stable, very wet, and enjoys stirring in the poo until is turns to tiny shreds! Anyway, I went on to Aquamax last year and I would never go back. It's absolutely fantastic, so easy to muck out, doesn't get stuck in their tails, warm, and I only have to put in one bag a week which are usually about £5.50, instead of 2-3 shavings bales which I was using before. 200% recommended if you're going to switch to something new!

I hadn't looked at Aquamax, but I will. My TB sounds like your horse - a one horse mixing machine- LOL. When you have 4 horses and with shavings going up and like you I put 2/3 bales of shaving in each box a week.

AquaMax is indeed really good for horses who turn their stables upside down during the night, or those that pee for England (or whatever country they come from!). However I would never use it with my horse as she has respiratory problems and it just gets far too dusty in the summer IMO. My friend also has a horse with RAO and she agrees with me. But if your horse is fine with dust then it's really good stuff to use and I find it very quick to muck out. We have it on rubber matting though so the muckiest ones get a bit less (we have one chronic boxwalker) to keep them cleaner, but I wouldn't like to do that on concrete flooring really.
 
I agree that it can get dusty in the summer because of it drying out so well. I invested in a watering can last year and used to sprinkle it with water quickly every couple of days after I mucked out and then there was no dust.

Pretty impressive though that bedding can be so absorbant that it actually dried out!! He he!

Honestly, it's great stuff, give it a bash and you'll be a convert for life.
 
I have been using megazorb but found it didnt make a big enough bed so added beddown shavings .Is aquamax similiar to megazorb in your opinion.Sounds like your horse is as disgusting as mine .I am going to need something special for 4 weeks box rest.I would like the bed to be soft as he has had a operation on his hock and I dont want him to be laying on hard surface.Do you know what it is made from I think megazorb is hemp based.
 
We follow ILPH practice and use rubber mats with a good sprinkling of shavings at the back of the stable. Its hugely easy to muck out because the whole lot is swept to one side and shovelled out rather than sifting through a deep shavings bed. We're using 2 bales a week for three horses but the reduction in time and effort is the big win. It takes longer to do the water and the hay than the mucking out.
