Im looking for a feed that will give my boy abit more 'go' but it cannot be of any sort a weight gain feed... At the moment he is just on Happy hoof with added vits etc x

I was going to suggest straight crushed oats or barley (not so keen on) soaked. On a weight for weight basis they provide more go/energy than fattening effect than most processed nuts or other grain mixes (or so I have found).
Crushed maize is good as it gives energy and not so much stupidity but it can be fattening.
Sunflower seeds, are high in oil for sustained energy but I have heard it is not good to feed more than a large handful per feed.

Is your boy prone to gaining weight Charlie55? If so it is a very delicate balance to get more oomph without putting weight on. If he is in any way gaining weight, he is already getting more calories than he needs for the work he's doing, so increasing/changing his feed wouldn't be the way forward.

I have the same problem with my pony and at the moment although he is lazy I can't feed him anything at all. Before the grass came through he was having a small amount of D&H Staypower cubes which seemed to work well for him.

He is just a very good doer. I got him in April and he was very fat as he hadnt been ridden for 3 months, he has lost the unwanted weight now and i like the size he is so i wouldnt want to add to it. I might try some tiger oats and see how he goes. Thanks x

Redcell is a blood tonic, it's a supplement with iron and some other vits and minerals in. Supposed to make them turbo charged, so I will let you know if it helps mine
