After your very helpful reviews of the chesnut welsh how do you think this chap fairs?

Do you think that jump could be improved with some good schooling?

I would really like to see the rider give him his head a little so he isn't so over bent! Little green jumping, but that'll come with a more forgiving rider and schooling/work/time :)

looks nice. I'd like to see him using himself more over a jump, bu again, that's schooling. He seems nice and honest :)

I think he looks pretty stuffy all round (a long way off tracking up in trot etc), whether that is horse or rider it is difficult to tell, how old?

Look like a really lovely sort with good conformation. I think you might have to do some remedial schooling to get him responsive off the leg aids though - after all that kicking ;)
He's actually got a nice front leg action over the fence and is actually very genuine considering how much he's being held on to.

What was the story with the chestnut? Was it a horse you were intetested in buying?

was one i was looking at to buy, but decided against going to view him after the review on here :)

The little chap in this thread is theoretically sold but buyers are messing about apparently so there is a chance he may come back up for sale. He caught my eye so wanted to pass him by you guys.

If it is a youngster (4ish) would be worth seeing loose and riding yourself as it wasn't working properly over the back but that can be the rider or poor schooling. If not a youngster wouldn't touch it.

He's the type I like and he appears willing and forgiving , if I where looking I would be concerned that he may have bilateral pain in front and the landing disunited jumping worrys me to.
These things might just be training issues so if where me I would probally take a look if he was near and a good price and leave it if he was along haul away.

He goes disunited quit frequently... Unless he's miles under budget, I'm not sure I'd bother. Although he does look like a really genuine sort, and the overall look could be improved by a different jockey...

'He rides well on the flat with flashy paces, good balanced canter and uphill trot.'

They must have looked at a diff horse to me

I'd be a no def not then, much preferred the other one tbh!

Mmmmm nine at a dealers don't want to rain on your parade but unless it's was on my doorstep I think I would leave it.

No they where wearing their special rose tinted specs all dealers have several pairs.

For that money, you could get a considerably nicer horse... We paid similar for an 8yo recently, who was considerably smarter and was pretty much a blank slate, with an amazing jump and 3 very nice paces. I think you could do considerably better for your budget!

I thought he was going to be a 5yo, for about £1.5k... If he were that, I'd say go and see. But 9, at £2.5k?!

What are you after?

There is something i dont like about his back end when he jumps, its like he bunny hops over rather than pushing off from behind. He also look stuffy in the trot and canter.
I wouldnt bother to be honest.

Sorry op but if that's the best they can get out of him I wouldn't go for it. Unless you felt v confident you could do a much better job and wanted to take on something green at that age (and would expect it to be pretty cheap).

Sorry you're not having that much luck on here, maybe some hhoers can get on the case and have a look for you?!

I don't like the way he swishes his tail every time she pushes him back into canter? and the way he jumps, its like he pushes his legs forward rather than under! I wouldn't buy him

My first thoughts were that he was not tracking up or working over his back. He just 'looks' pretty. Also there is a lot of head throwing goin on so not working consistently.

He does not make a nice shape when jumping and keeps landing disunited so again doesn't seem to be using his back properly and seems quite unbalanced.

But he does seem very genuine so I then thought for a baby he might make a nice horse with a bit of reschooling.

Then I see he was 9yo!!!!!!!!!!

If he was considerably cheaper I might take the risk but not at that price.

his hind end doesn't look good in the canter. plus the tail swishing and the discomfort when using his hind end to jump and start cantering. I personally wouldn't go for him.

I'm not experienced enough to give an opinion, far from it, but it seemed to me that most of the work shown on that video was on the ?left rein, just a little on the right when jumping. Coincidence?
