We are hoping to go to our first in hand show on 21st November:eek::eek:
On the entry forms there are loads of classes that say can be entered by ponies registered with their approved respective pure breed societies. How do I know if Donovan is registered? Should I have paperwork?
Also, for his first show, how many classes do you think would be feesable to enter? Dont want to overdo it.;)

If he is registered he will have a passport with the association he is registered. For example my pony is a welsh sec a so he has a welsh pony and cob passport.

If he has a Welsh Pony and Cob Society passport you'll be fine. Depending on how big the show is I usually do 2 or maybe 3 classes with young ones at their first show, the first one because they are often all eyes on stalks and all over the place :), the second to behave nicely (hopefully ;))and the third only if they are not too tired.

Another question now! I have not been rugging him as it hasnt been that cold, and have always been told that he can use some of his fat to keep him warm. Not that he is fat, but I dont want him getting that way! But of course now he is growing a nice thick winter coat! Would it be the norm to have him clipped for showing or leave him natural?

I'm not sure about clipping, I have a highland and it may be different for welshies. I was told by a listed Highland judge that I could clip him for in hand showing in winter, only if he was old enough to be in work (4 upwards). I would have to leave his head and legs unclipped, otherwise clip him right out. I haven't done any winter showing with him so it hasn't arisen. Not a lot of help!
