Morning all. first time horse/pony owner!

Morning everyone
Hoping to get lots tips and help as first time owner.
We have recently built new shed with 2 stables so going to live my dream of having some ponies/horses. Rode for while when young but never owned one. I have been helping out at local stables and thinking of fostering from charity if I am suitable!! So please be patiernt if I ask any silly questions! thank you all, Lisa

Hi and welcome to the forum. Going from riding to owning is a huge step and buying two and keeping them at home with no support could be quite overwhelming. Have you considered buying one horse and keeping it at a livery yard for a while first to help you get used to being solely responsible for a horse with other people around for support and morale before buying a second and bringing them home?

Welcome! I hope you find it useful here.
Definitely useful to have a place to go to for advice - I'd continue going to the stables to help out so you can ask them any questions.

My suspicion is that the charity will want you to have many years' experience of keeping and handling horses before they approve you as a foster home, but might be wrong about that - I have no idea! What kind of horse do the charities foster out: do you know?

It might be useful to do a search on here about fostering experiences (search function in top right hand corner) and then ask any questions you still have by starting a separate thread in the 'tack room' section.
