. . can you help. Every so often my clippers stop cutting hair, I remember this happening last year but not how to fix it!

I've slid the second blade to each side and cleaned/oiled as much as possible. Maybe the second blade isn't properly in position? Any ideas other than sending them for a service?

Chicken fajitas and rioja on offer, but dog has eaten all the cookies :-)

I have this problem.. OH sorts it for me and he says its the spring that's holds the 2 blades together coming loose. Take it apart squidge the spring tighter then reassemble... If that makes any sense!

I had this but found it happened if the coat was too greasy. Also changing the angle I held the clippers to the coat helped - if it's in a greasy spot, I tend to take off the hair reasonably long, and then go back over and clip close iyswim!

He had now helpfully informed me that this 'spring' doesn't look like a spring. It's the piece of metal holding the 2 blades together, its comes loose if you get dirt or something in there forcing the blades apart.

Ive just sent mine in for service for this reason. I wish I'd known about squidging the metal part first. I'm interested to see if this has worked for you.

mine constantly did this, couldn't be doing with the hassle of half clipped horses so I sold them on!

Mine did this once - I fixed it by taking the blades apart and cleaning them thoroughly - if a hair or anything gets in between the two blades it messes with the tensioning, apparantly!

Ok - you have to take the blades apart I'm afraid - you can just slide the small one off the big one. There should be a piece of black plastic which fits over the metal tensioner. It is normally that this has slipped out of place and making the blades loose.

It is quite obvious where it should go back on, then you need to hold the tensioner open with a screwdriver and get someone to help you push the top blade back on, being careful to keep the bit of black plastic in the right place over the tensioner!

Very fiddly, but should work.

Hope this helps

Thanks Feathered and H & everyone else.

Had an inspired moment yesterday and held the blades under the hot tap . . hey presto they worked after that, so probably dirt between the blades. Although I only clipped ankles with them after that, but they worked fine.

Taking careful note of the "science bit" about taking them apart in case that becomes necessary! Thanks again. :-)
