Have a horse who is tricky/nervous to clip but is desperately fluffy and now needs a clip. She has had a bib done the last 2 years as work has been light but this year needs a lot more off and probably clipping regularly.

I need something very quiet, low vibration (she totally freaks when the clippers run over her scapular due to the vibrations) but also reasonably efficient and a good clipper - nothing which will catch or pull her coat. Must also be cordless so I can stay with her as she jumps around!

Have had the Mosers and the listers recommended but have no idea which is the better, price is irrelevent if quality is good and it ticks all over boxes.

Help/recommendations/suggestions very much welcomed!

The Moser ones have a good battery life and are very quiet and I have had mine around five years now. My boys an ID x TB and doesn;t get really fluffy but they work on him a treat. Have clipped a cob with them and worked ok but did take a while and he was very hairy!! Hope this helps

I thought they were meant to be the same but I have the avalons and my frind has the lister ones and mine are better and much quiter. My horsse used to be sedated for clipping and with the avalons i can do all of him even his head on my own no body holding or twitch. I def reccomend

CLY - mines a tbx, very fine coat just fluffy so hopefully they'll do the job. Don't mind having to do it over a few days just want it to be a nice experience for both of us!

Henny - thanks, really encouraging. Mine is OKish with a twitch but that has literally been a minimal clip with some cheapy trimmers - she just freaks as you go over her scapular as she is lacking in muscle there and it is just a bit close to the bone. She is also funny about the noise hence wanting something quiet. I'm hoping if I can get through a couple of clips without upsetting her she'll settle so your post definately gives me confidence that with the right clippers we'll get there.

Yep have the liveryman harmonys, great clippers. Wish you were closer as looks like I won't be using them this year. Very quiet, two speeds, come with 2 sets of blades. Got the clipper phobic bean clipped fine, and only £150.

wolsley and a bit of sedalin gel and a person who is good and quick at clipping. i would go for a full clip, leave legs , half head blended, as is far quicker than trying to get lines straight and level and the rugs these days are so good!

I have battery pair of avalons, and a mains pair of harmony's - I used tha battery ones on nervy horses (only so they don't stand on any cables, and the mains ones for virtually everything else.

The only thing I don't like about the avalons is how long the battery takes to charge. I have ordered a spare battery for this year so one can charge while the other one clips.

The mains one is great, just it (obviously) has the mains wire to think about.

Performance wise I reckon they are as close to identical as is possible. but then as the same design from the same manufacturer they should be.

Have you considered the Lister Liberty? They used to be called the Showman and I have a pair that I have had for 28 years! They are still clipping and are very quiet and being battery are very versitile.

Love my avalons - my horse is very nervy to clip but a lot happier since I bought the avalons, and I even managed to do a full clip on him last season.

Another vote for the liveryman harmony clippers, fully clipped 2 very nervous hairy cobs this year with huge success and no twitch yey!!!

The Avalons are fantastic, the battery will last for an entire clip. They are incredibly quiet and have next to no vibrations. The only issue I have had with them is if the horse's coat is too fine and fluffy or slightly greasy the blades stop cutting. I would highly recommend them though.
