Hi I have owned my own field for niine months now, the thing is it has loads of moss in it, it's really boggy at the moment too, what can I do about the moss? or is it best to leave it? will the grass grow through the moss?
Sorry to sound really dumb, but just need you advice really.

I'd phone someone like a pasture care company. It doesn't cost anything to ask some questions. I don't think grass will come through moss, its like a weed and takes over. Sorry

If you want to get rid of the moss yourself you need to rake it off every day. It will loosen and come off to let the grass grow through. Hard work though if you have a lot of it.

Would harrowing have the same effect?
A couple of the ponies field at the yard are full of moss, they are used as starvation paddocks in the summer so nothings done about it. They look nice even when theres barely any grass left. And stand up well to use, less muddy than the other fields. Saying that it's not ideal as a normal field. Best thing to do would be see a pasture care company as CCJ1 sugests, sorry can't help, hope it all sorts out.
