I'll go first!

Know it alls. I bet every stables has the 'yard expert' that just has to let you know everything you're doing wrong with your horse... Mine's even gone as far as to take it upon herself to come into the school whilst someone's riding and start teaching them unasked 'as a special treat'. How are these people so oblivious to how irritating they are??? This morning she started to instruct me on how to bridge my reins - i work on a racing yard! Grrr.....

I have a lady over the other yard where i loan my new horse and there is a no it all lady there, i could tell straight away that she was a instructor before my mum spoke to her and told me
tongue.gif
, i just ignore her and dont talk to her because it does my head in!, but mind you she has not tried telling me what to do because i will tell her what i think!! i know how you feel, i dont have it at my other yard though because there are only 3 of us on the yard
laugh.gif
,

1. people who think they;re horses can wait til miday to be seen to in 'the morning'.
2. we have an unwritten agreement that first person up will feed breakfast - but it annoys me that certain person never comes up first and never says thank you, or please can you do it!.
3. know it alls who say you shouldnt do something then do it themselves.
4. people who dont sweep up, turn lights off etc, who will do it if you don't do it yourself??!

When people "borrow" your stuff without asking - it's only borrowing when it's put back, if you don't intend to put it back, it's stealing.

And if you are only borrowing, please FFS put my stuff back where you found it, in the same condition in which you originally borrowed it.

LMAO Yep other people !

The woman that has 3 ponies on our yard that makes a special effort to only come when she knows that no one else is around as we are giving them hay to stop them starving to death on a bare paddock (Very appreciative ponies!!)and hasn't paid her rent for over 3 months!
mad.gif

The lady on our yard has her NVQ Level 1. Therefore, she knows everything. She told me when she got her horse (he cost £4000) he didn't know his diagonals, and was unschooled. Having a flash on is cruelty, and she "wishes her horses were as well-behaved as ours." This was said as my horse cartwheeled down the road, before trying to climb out his stable as I untacked. She always ties up in the area where you have tpo go through to get to the stables, and then creates when we take out horses past. Her ponies (one is 13.2 and the other is 14.2) are very highly strung, and sensitive, and ours are well-behaved dobbins (2 ex-racers, both of whom are lovely, but only kept in a state of basic good manners and overall good behaivour due to careful feeding, plenty of excercise and strict discipline).

Aghhhh!!!!! Irritates me SO much. And, whn she first explained she knew everything due to her Level 1 NVQ, I said that was really good, I'd never done that but I had my B test horse care. Her response? But that's only pony club....

Surely the owner can chuck her off the yard for that

I know ! He's to soft - where would they go and I think she's playing it as if I don't go down he can't throw her off !!!
mad.gif

i would say the know-it-alls too...don't really have one on my new yard (or not so as i have noticed anyway!) but there were 3 of them on my old yard...they drove me mad
mad.gif
i also can't stand nosey people. don't get me wrong its nice to ask people what they are up to and i do this etc but proper nosey people who clock what time you come up/how often you ride etc etc really bug me too!
smirk.gif
i also don't like people who take the mick eg. not moving poo from the arena, then it gets locked up and we all suffer
frown.gif

Defintly the so called ''experts!''
oh and folk who leave things at their backsides as they know some1 else will sort it later

sorry rant over

Mine can. He's in a field, I reckon he probably can cope if I don't get up there to feed him breakfast until 11.30 on a Sunday.

ooohhhh I'm so glad I'm not on a livery yard anymore!
Aside from the Know alls, at my last yard was a clique of middle aged women, all had horses but not one ever EVER rode them(one only rode in the summer FFS!!) and everytime i would tack up for a hack, they would stand around telling me about all the awful things that could happen if i was to , heaven forbid, get on the horse and go for a ride. Then they would sit around drinking tea and bitching for an hour or 2, then when i came back they would all hover around ooohing and ahhhing about how brave i was to ride out. Bloody idiots. sad thing was they all had lovely horses who needed to lose some pounds and get fit, would have probably been a lot happier being in work that standing in a field being ornaments.

People who are takers and never give back. All to happy to let you do something for them but never return the favour!
mad.gif

Lexie81 - That made me LOL! I rember all the Spanish ladies at the yard FB used to be on being horrified that I would go out riding on my own with a strange man! He worked shifts as a chef and could only ride on certain days, during the daytime. Me being a lady of leisure was happy to hack out anytime to oblige the YO. When I started disappearing on horseback for three hours at a time into the hills with a male friend of ours, not coming back until it was about 10.30pm and pitch black the town gossips went wild!!!

So I'll vote for gossiping, narrow minded busybodies!

People who don't fork up onto the muckheap, but instead just dump their shite at the bottom and expect everyone else to climb over it.
People who book out the school and then don't turn up to use it.
The yard "expert" who know fack all but insists on trying toi teach you to suck eggs.
I'll probably think of more later!!

The most annoying thing I have found is when everyone else on the yard seems to hate your horse for no apparent reason. On my last yard, Ellie was quickly labelled as 'dangerous' after she allegedly went for someone 'with teeth and hooves' and trampled them into the ground...I was also told she needed to be put on Regumate as she was acting 'like a stallion' and affecting all the other mares' seasons
crazy.gif

At my new yard, everyone has actually said how amazingly well behaved Elz has been considering she's on box rest. If I mentioned Ellie being 'dangerous' or 'like a stallion' I think they'd think I was barmy!!!
crazy.gif
It's a totally different feeling - everyone seems to genuinely like the other horses (if they dont, they dont show it!) and there are Polos galore for everyone
grin.gif

Yard Gossip is my personal number 1.
People who leave horses in til 11am (from say 5pm bed time) then drag them out - straight into the arena and within seconds is cantering - the horses don't appear to be allowed to stretch their legs first!!
People who ask for help (no problems) so you give it, - they can ask several times (still not a problem) and you give them the same answer again - and then they DO THE OPPOSITE - was there any point in asking in the first place?!??!?!?!

People who feed your horse treats without asking and when you are not there.

Then totally deny it when your horse practically has them on the floor and is strip searching them for polos

Good point. Fortunately I have the only normal YO in the world. Even if he was last seen in the scoop of a JCB with a flower pot hat on brandishing a nailgun

Yes I have one like that, seems to hate my horse even though he has never done anything wrong to this person. This person shouts at him, blames him for the fact the horse next door bangs! But loves my mare!

Still I just try to ignore them, not always as easy as it sounds.
frown.gif
Anyway should not complain as I have the nicest, most helpful, kindest YO in the world, so willing to putup with the other person.
smile.gif

This reminds me of my friend on my yard. She's a eventer, and the better her and her mare do the more people get bitchy and sneery about her and her horse... it's all jealousy of course!

Agree with this. Especially as someone has obviously borrowed my hoofpick and has snapped the metal pick off... then just hung it back up
mad.gif
At least own up and apologise, i wouldn't even ask them to buy me a new one
