Hehe, firstly sorry for posting 2 threads within 2 mins of each other, but ahh well.

What is the most interesting, offensive, or downwright wierd thng a dressage judge has written about you?

My son had " I think her prefers the xc phase " about his 13hh nf who HATES dressage, she was so right

"He certainly didn't surrender today"... His name was No Surrender, I think she though she was being funny ;)

"Brave" and "well sat" feature in my sister's set. Pony was not impressed by being in the indoor arena and let the whole world know- it was genuinely brave to keep going and very well sat! Pony kicked the judge's headlight in as a parting shot...

I got "Well done for persevering" after my mare was particularly entertaining during one test.

i should get 'my horse has kissing spines' tattooed into his quaters!
the comment 'more suppleness over the back needed' comes up frequently....... well if 6 of your spinal processes were touching i dont think you would be the most supple person in the world!!!

a friend once recived 'promising young horse for the future'....... said horse was 19 years old :/

Relax.

- many years ago at a PC ODE. I got up early lunged horse, arrived at event, warmed up, said to Mum: "I think that's got him sorted!" Lovely trot round the outside of arena, turned to go up the centre line, horse exploded, dumped me, went through the other 3 arenas, scattering horses everywhere, through car park and finally slipped over, before being caught. The very kind organisers said I could start again and this time I managed to stay aboard, but it was an interesting test. I think I got a 6 for something.

Amazingly we were placed :)

'drunk down center line'

and also

'Been on the scrumpy? bit wobbly down center line'

Gotta love the local unaffiliated stressage shows.

"Tactfully ridden".:p Although I often had "great potential" even when my mare was well into her 20s.

"Your lovely young horse is not ready for dressage"

He was 26. I was left wondering when he would be ready... Turns out never :D

'Stopped... Just!'

Back in the day when Genie and I did express dressage - Final halt supposed to be at G, let's just say we were almost at C....

One of my sister's eventer a was HOT! At our PC ODE, She did the entire test at canter including free walk on a long rein.

At the end the sheet read a lovely forward thinking horse, however I have no idea idea what was going on or indeed where you were, after your entry.

To add insult to injury she beat me on my 'dressage horse'

'Circle on the large side'

In fact I'd forgotten to circle at all and gone around the whole arena before going into the next movement :p

I got just plain and simple oh dear followed by perhaps strictly come dancing would be more appropriate after the giraffe decided to do a freestyle hand break turn with double pike at c when in actual fact what I wanted was a simple change from canter to trot back to canter.I took my 3.5 year baby racer out and got this horse needs to develop more established paces - well yes I expect he does as he is currently 3 inches higher on his arse than he is on his withers ;)

Not from judge but steward at an early season BE event...'well, that's the fastest round we've had all day!'

I was writing for a judge once, and a particularly tense horse can in the arena. Walk and trot were OK and the rider was doing well in keeping the horse calm - then came the first canter movement. This was interpreted as Rear, Buck, Rear, Buck etc.... The judges comment "Showed a little tension in canter"

Some great comments.

We got 'If this competition had been judged in the warm up area your horse would have won. Sadly his behaviour in the arena didn't match up'

Could have been the ginormous spook at the advertising banner that did it... or could have been the total failure to canter. Trot or gallop, canter went missing.

These comments are hilarious.

But I suppose we do have to remember that the judge doesn't know the age of your horse, or if he has a back problem, etc, so can only comment on what he/she sees in the arena at that moment.

Taking a novice out for the 1st time at an ODE :o

'Rider did well to keep her composure during the hectic parts - well done'
:o

We both 'saluted' at 1st halt - and same at end. (he was on hind legs each time) :o
Canter was manic - but we DID stay in the arena :D
Uncalled for leg yielding on change of rein in trot (this was inspired by pony - I was breathless in trying to keep him straight :D)

However, we did go clear SJ & XC  and finished up 3rd :o:o mostly because there was only 1 other double clear & many eliminations through the coffin fence or water complex.......

'rider and pony will do better when they have been a partnership together for longer'--this was on lucy at this point i had been riding her for roughly 6 years

an not really a dressage comment but about a month a go i entered a whp for fun and because my dressage was scheduled shortly afterwards i went in a snaffle...the judge simply said 'a nice huntig pace' when i finished my round in which i had no control over the speed and kitty had chosen flat out gallop :o
