Any ideas on what I can get my horsey mum for mothers day? We are competing on the Sunday so wont be able to do the lunch thing, and flowers/chocs seem abit boring.
I was thinking maybe a box with 'horse survival' type things in, like priceless things you always need/want when your at a show, maybe a pack of polos, plating bands, chocolate, studs.....

Any suggestions?

I bought my horsey mum the Hovis Friday diary book, and thinking about something else atm. We're going for an early brunch on sunday, and then going on a vineyard tour with wine tasting - in Yorkshire :D

That sounds really nice and your mum sounds ace! I'd love it if my mum still rode!

Anyway, yeah you can get a nice box and fill it with treats, like you say plus maybe some energy sweets, lucozade, mini hot water bottle, travel hoofpick, travel antiperspirant (so long as she wont think she's stinky but sometimes you need a quick squirt!!) ... ooh I've gone a bit shopping mad for you! :D

But yes, in short, nice idea! :D

Ahh Brill thanks, Shop next door to where I work sells really nice smelly type things, bath stuff etc will pop in and pick some things up, also our local feed shop has a 10%off weekend too :D
She does lots for me and my horse aswell as her working and having her own to ride so I like to spoil her when I can.

I'm not sure of how nice the wine will be, but we'll see.

I considering adopting her a donkey from the local ES trust, or the Brooke....

My lovely mum is helping me run our hunter trial on sunday so unfortunately we can't go out for lunch either. I opted for buying her some special flowers -birds of paradise- which she loves and I will pick up and give her on saturday. I've also bought her a cushtie fleece jumper for around the house after she liked mine. And finally I'm going to take her for a spa weekend in my uni easter hols. So I'm hoping she will feel well and truly compensated for giving up her mothers day! :D.

I agree though that standard flower bouquets and choccies are a little old hat and think your essentials competition kit is a great idea :) (my mum doesn't ride unfortunately!) what about some face wipes and/or a small pot of handcream for the kit? I always end up carting my big pack of face wipes and tube of handcream to events so I can freshen up half way through or just to help me feel slightly human at the end of the day! :)

ETA Hovis Friday Diary also sounds like a great gift:)

My mum has for years talked about writing a kids book about the life and times of our old donkey - I thought it might inspire her to write a book, and do it for the Brooke who she has always supported. :)
